What is your sleep philosophy?
Everyone has the potential to become great sleeper and the whole family deserves to live a well-rested life.
It may surprise you, but healthy sleep habits do not develop automatically with our now digital and fast paced lives. It is our actions and reactions to our need for sleep, that either helps or hinders the development of healthy sleep skills. Our temperaments also plays a big part in quality sleep development.
How soon can we start?
Often, I’m able to accommodate a new sleep family within 1 week. I only work with a limited number of families at one time, to ensure you get the best support and my attention.
Do you accept insurance?
No. However, you may be able to apply for reimbursement with your Health Spending Account. Contact your Insurance provider for coverage information.
I don’t live near Ann Arbor, MI, can you help me?
Yes! I offer a multitude of virtual services that include real-time video utilizing Facetime, Facebook Messenger Video or Zoom at no extra cost, making it more personal for both of us.
If you truly desire my services in-person and live over three hours away from Ann Arbor, Michigan, my travel expenses would be significantly more due to air travel and other costs. With that said, I am always happy and eager to help a client in need, no matter where they live.
Do your strategies fix sleep forever? Or just temporarily?
While independent sleep is a learned skill, it is also a natural process. Some will need to be more consistent on a day-to-day basis to keep good sleep going, but it should never be as bad as it is right now.
Sometimes families need a little extra help down the road due to extensive travel, or general backsliding caused by illnesses, milestones, potty training, transitioning to a bed or big life changes like moving or parents separating.
In these instances, a refresher phone call will help to reassess and get everyone back to better sleep.
How long does it take to see results?
Depending on age, my support ranges from 2 to 6 weeks, however, you should expect to start seeing positive results in 3-5 days for babies and younger children, if not immediately. For older teenagers and adults, on average, it take 2-3 weeks, to start seeing consistent improved sleep, depending on your current sleep struggles.
Some are quicker, and some are slower, but this is not a race. The development of healthy and independent sleep skills does take time and some adjustments may be needed to achieve success.
I have more than one family member with sleep struggles, can you help me?
Of course! Depending on your family situation, we may work with all members at the same time, or stagger them, to ensure sleep success for each one and to not overwhelm you.
Do you have a nap package? My baby’s night time sleep is fine.
No. I have found that daytime sleeping problems are usually linked to some night time issue, even if you cannot see it.
In cases where the daytime is truly the only problem, a one-on-one sleep support call may be all you need.
My child has a medical or phycological issue, can they still learn to sleep better?
Most likely, yes! I strongly believe that all children deserve to live a well-rested life. With that said, their special needs will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine the best steps to make positive changes needed for better sleep.
Do you use the “cry it out” method?
No. I do not endorse the Cry It Out or Extinction Method. During which time children are left in their room and ignored completely.
Both methods assume that crying is what teaches your child and honestly, you do not need my help to do this.
Do you guarantee your services? What happens if I hire you and it doesn’t work?
Trust in me, this is really going to work! However, I cannot guarantee my services because some of the results are out of my hands.
You play a huge role in the success of the process. I will do everything in my power to get you to your goal, but I cannot make you do anything.
As long as you follow the customized advice I give you and truly want sleep to get better, I promise to continue helping you find the sleep you’ve been dreaming of.
